The last time I was happy with my legs, I was 13, and now I'm 22. People think I'm thin because I rarely have fat on my arms and waist... and I cover up my bottom half. My thighs look completely disgusting and it makes my body look totally disproportionate. I have never stood up straight naked in front of my bf. I've dieted and exercised for the last five years, and the lowest weight I've achieved is 120 (5"8), when I ate the least and exercised five days a week for an hour doing pilates and cardio. Even though I lost 20 lbs, my thighs hardly changed at all, and that's all I want. I just want to lose the weight on my legs and maintain. I don't care to be bony, and I don't want to be hungry all the time because I'm a student and i need to concentrate.
So I'm looking for advice from people who have done it. How long did it take and how much did you have to restrict in order to lose thigh fat? How much/what kind of exercise worked?
I'm anxious because my boyfriend (long-term) has a fetish for really thin girls. Every chick that he thinks is hot is super thin, like Keira Knightley. He's always slagging off fat girls, even if they're not that fat imo. And he loves seeing and feeling my ribs, and always complements how skinny my upper body is. That's why when he says he doesn't think my ass is fat, I know he's lying. My thighs are seriously bulbous and all I can do is hide them and I'm sick of it. I'm additionally paranoid because we don't have sex all that much anymore, so I want to get this shit done by the summer. Any advice is appreciated.

oh lord I do TONS of squats and lunges. My legs are really strong from yoga. I'm afraid my body type means I'll have to really go hungry to do this.
...which I'm willing to do. I'm hungry right now, whatever.

I'm quite similar, and look skinny from the top but I hate my upper thighs. Exercise isn't helping, and I;ve tried restricting as well but I always lose weight from my upper body (which is already quite boney), so now I'm going on a low carb diet (atkins/south beach induction type) as have read on several forums that it helps pear-shaped women...
I'm exactly the same, you can see my ribs and my boobs are tiny, but my legs refuse to change shape at all.
Even at my lowest weight (around 15.8 bmi) my thighs still touched however I didn't do much exercise then.
Let me know if you ever find the answer, I too would be happy to rid the fat off my thighs and maintain.
If taking the fat from my thighs and putting it on my boobs was possible then I'd be very happy.

I also have the thigh problem! No matter what I do, how much/little I weigh my thighs look attrocious. Everything else is fine (besides the stretchmarks) but my thighs and but are jiggily and no amount of exercise or weight training will fix it. My solution? Accept my body as it is. Everything else has tightened up since i lost weight and i dont expect perfection. I know some girls have perfect non-jiggily anything but meh...I've been given a fairly ok pearshaped body and besides my thighs the rest of my legs look ok.
SO overall? Just start doing weight training (group classes do these if you don't like doing it manually by yourself) It has definately shaped my legs nicely (besides my disgusting thighs scared by stretch marks) and ultimately? Accept your body for what it is.
PS. I would seriously consider the future of your relo w/ your boyfriend. He does not sound like a very nice person to make fun of people that aren't super duper skinny or overweight...he is definitely not a good influence on your self esteem and may cause you to develop a serious eating disorder. You really don't want that.

Squats and specific weight training really helps to strengthen your legs, but I've also found that dance works wonders too. I've been taking a dance class since the beginning of the year and the fat is slowly turning into hard muscle. Ballet really works wonders too. Just do specific things, and make sure to work all your legs muscles, not just hamstrings and quads. For me I find that my inner thighs and upper back thighs (that area between your butt and legs) are the hardest. Running or power walking also works. some of the girls with the skinniest legs in a healthy way are runners.

hi. i used to have that problem. i was getting slim everywhere but my partner said my legs looked like tree trunks LOLOL they did, i was like a size 8 on my top and a 12 on my legs! Anyway, i just cut carbs out completely and did steps (20 mins a day) And i know you need the energy from the carbs but i didnt really care. I had a lot of fish and vegetables. it worked (Until ive put on weight again a couple of years ago). good luck

I also have that problem.
What's even worse is that, one of my legs bigger/fatter than the other, it's so weird. My right thigh + leg is bigger/fatter than the left.
I'm going to buy a stepper soon, and do that while watching telly. Hopefully that should help my thigh situation. Also, most of my exercises normally work the thighs, but ah well, they never change.
