hello... i had a bit of a rubbish day today, i work at a hospital and today worked from 7am til 7.30 pm, and when i got home i was so tired i added up my cals wrong!! so i had 100 too many by accident!! how stupid is that!
so tomorrow im just going to drink water/squash all day, which will hopefully give me a bit of a boost.. im thinking if iv had a day with more food then my metabolism should be quite high and this will be extra beneficial.
my new scales also measure body water so il be able to keep an eye on my hydration too.anyone who wants top join me, feel free!!
love you all.

I'm on day two of a waterfast. I've only been drinking water and Arizona tea. As the days go on, I will cut out the tea from the diet, and stick ony with water. I'm finding it really, really difficult to avoid suspicion when skipping meals, but I guess there's no way to stop that. Right now my stomach feels like someone is ripping it out with railroad spikes, but if this time is at all like my other fasts, then by day four I will stop feeling hungry, then I can go on for weeks ...
This fast is more difficult than others, and I am not sure why. So, I think it's good that I click on this post. I will most definitely join you! We can encourage each other when we're feeling like giving up. :]I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow, to feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral.
I embrace my desire to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human.

I'll join in! I could use the boost in feeling like I'm actually still in control. I spent the day with my boyfriend and he insisted I eat at lunch so I know I went over today.

im lucky in that this weekend, both my housemates and my boyfriend are away until monday!!
which means i can fast without anybody getting suspicious.
cicely, i agree, by day4 it does seem to get easier doesn't it? no idea why though!
i think im just going to fast for the two days though, because i want to carry on going to the gym and i know that i just wont have the energy from the third day onwards.
monday is the day i weigh myself as wel so hopefully i should see some benefits!
glad you two girls are up for this too.. hunger is always easier to deal with when you have people to encourage you!!

I agree. It can help give that extra bit of motivation if you know someone else is going through it with you. =) I hope you two are doing well. So far I have done well with it. I'm not sure how tomorrow will go though. I'll be with my boyfriend all day... and he asks a lot of questions.

Research conducted by University of California, Berkeley, suggests there are major health benefits to caloric restriction. Benefits include a reduced risk of cancer, the slowing of the aging process and the potential to increase maximum life span.[2] Currently, the reduction of caloric intake is the only proven method of increasing the lifespan of an organism[3]. According to Dr. Mark P. Mattson, chief of the laboratory of neurosciences at the National Institute on Aging, fasting every other day (intermittent fasting) shows as strong of beneficial effects as caloric-restriction diets[4]. According to The National Academy of Sciences other health benefits include stress resistance, increased insulin sensitivity, reduced morbidity, and increased life span [5][6]. Long term studies in humans have not been conducted. However, short term human trials showed benefits in weight loss. The side effect was the participants felt cranky during the three week trial. According to the study conducted by Dr. Eric Ravussin "Alternate-day fasting may be an alternative to prolonged diet restriction for increasing the life span".[7]

Hang in there! I'm sure it will work! and yes boyfriends are a pain... Mine has even been known to try to keep track of my calories while I'm with him! I just act so offended he usually lets it go. When I am not with people it's easy b/c I work a lot plus I am a full time college student... So eating on the run is an easy excuse. Also, I can usually say I am too tired to bother with food and I go to my room to take a nap. When I am with my boyfriend I'm just very careful. If I spend the night there I'll say I got up earlier and ate something, or I play with my food a lot and when he's done i offer to clean up and he doesn't even notice.

that's cool research. and it actually makes me feel better! I was thinking about doing a fast of a few days on more of a schedule... I know I cannot last long on the fasts that go on for too long... what do you think?
