    Question ABS training...

Well.. I know a bodybuilder who told me that u can't train muscles (spells) if u dont eat minimum 2000 kcal a day.. Then muscles cant grow...
Is it true? I sure would like some nice abs... But maybe that is just another stupid dream....

    Default So they say

I go to a gym and one of my instructors is a body builder. She eats 1500 cal a day. It depends on your activity level.

Muscle burns calories while you are resting. So if you consistently don't have ANY excess calories for your body to use then the body starts to eat at your muscles. So maybe it is not necessary to eat the whole 2000, but you do need an amount of extra calories that way the muscles and body can build and repair and function, which they can not if they are deprived on energy. Also you need some protein. To build your muscles after you work them out.

If you gain muscle your weight may go up, but you can appear smaller or the same bc muscle is more compact and dense and weighs more than fat, even though it takes up less space.
