    Default panic attacks

the past few weeks i've been suffering from multiple panic attacks. i actually had a pretty hardcore one earlier tonight.
i've dealt with intense anxiety my whole life. there was a time after i graduated high school that i had attacks almost everyday. i overcame it, with a lot of willpower and the distraction of reading books.
but now it's back, worse than ever. and the things that helped before do not help this time. does anyone else have this problem too? if so, what do you do to prevent/get rid of attacks?

yeah this happens to me every day, sometimes up to 3 times a day. it's been here ever since i can remember. the first time that i've noticed it was quite young. i have no clue on how to control them (or let them apper less). my mom doest believe i have it so at the moment im not getting the treatment i need. but to top it off i have ocd and depression. i try to google this up, but it doesn't really help. i hope you have better luck with this.

Aww sweethearts, I'm so sad to see this topic because I lost a whole year of my life because of panic disorter. I tried everything, medecine, therapy but nothing seemed to work. So I got checked to a mental hospital, at first it was horrible and lonely but it was the thing that helped me. I had my own nurse with who I talked daily and together we did things that usually made me panic. So get help, please. And stay strong no matter what.

I've had panic attacks alot as well. I take ativan to try and calm myself down. When I have them I feel like I am going to die, I feel dizzy and my heart races and I just feel bad, I have to go home when this happens. The best way I find to calm them is when you have one, lay on your stomach for 10 mins and it goes away.

    hope that helps

I take Ativan, too... That's been the only thing that's helped me...

I get panic attacks also. Of course my parents don't know about it because I'm too nervous to tell them but there are some medicaton that your doctor can perscribe for you to help ease the attacks

I also suffer with panic attacks, the only thing that I find helps is you have to let the initial anxiety rise to it's peak. Let it go as high as it is going to. No point trying to fight it, that just makes the adrenaline pump more and more.

Anxiety can only go so high until it HAS to come down. It's horrible but it does work.

Panic attacks are all about adrenaline and it releasing/pumping when it's not needed. So a surge of unneeded adrenaline makes everything work overtime.

I don't know if I explained that very well, panic attacks have ruined my life, had to leave jobs, couldn't leave house. But have just started therapy for them now.

I hope you get better x

Hey I get them too, when Im put under a lot of pressure or am caught offguard. I have just been prescribed zoloft. It''s an antidepressant but also treats panic disorder and OCD, I have only just started them though cos my attacks got so bad recently, so I am pretty interested to see how it goes. I need to get rid of this, it affects my life.

wow hun I know the feeling.. I've had a lots of panic attacks too.. but some days is just better than others.. like when they stay away..
but when I get them I listen to some music that makes me relax.
watching tv, or maybe a movie, close my eyes and hold around something, talk to someone that can make you calm down..
