    Default Suppressing unhealthy cravings...

Does anyone have any ideas on how i can suppress my cravings for unhealthy food, such as fast food or sweets? This isn't a tip thing this is just questions on how to stay focused primarily on healthier foods. Any input is appreciated!

Supposedly if u can go 2 weeks ur body kind of gets n a habit n stops craving it. The sweets if ur craving usually means u need more fruits n the healthy sugars from that. Plus u get a lot more energy from eating plenty of those not a crappy filling after sweets.

This. I know 2 weeks is a long time to resist cravings though so maybe you could find healthy alternatives....like...

Something sweet - fruit (if you're not against adding a bit of sugar, you could make fruit sorbet!)
Ice cream - frozen yogurt, fruit sorbet/sherbet, fruit smoothies
Chocolate - dark chocolate (very healthy)
Pizza - find a recipe for healthy pizza you can make yourself and keep in the freezer for when a craving strikes.
Cookies - there are healthy recipes...oatmeal cookies with dark chocolate chips for example. Although it does require sugar, it's a hell of a lot better than regular cookies.
Fast food: chicken/fries/burgers that you make at home, WITHOUT adding buckets of salt or frying it in grease of course!

Those are some things off the top of my head. I could think of plenty more if you want. If you're trying to cut out ALL sugar then some things might not work but I don't advise doing that anyway. It's better to replace unhealthy foods with similar but healthier ones than avoid them completely and only eat your "safe" foods. Some of these things require preparation obviously but if you're willing to put in the time you could really save yourself from some cravings! The freezer is your friend! If you have everything on hand you're less likely to say "screw that, I'm hungry RIGHT THIS SECOND" and drive to McDonalds.

Yes, the more sweets you eat the more you want. Also, kefir, which is like yogurt, helps your body absorb nutrients better, and has a lot of probiotics/nutrients itself, so this helps reduce bad cravings. I've also found that it satisfies bad cravings in the moment. Even cravings that taste different than kefir, if that makes sense. Like if you crave chocolate, drink some kefir. Chocolate craving gone, and supress in the future as well.

There was a suggestion about finding a healthier alternative for pizza. You can make your own. Have pita bread and spread tomato paste or pizza sauce on it, cut up whatever toppings you want to put on it and crumble low fat fetta cheese and then bake it in the oven until the base is crisp. It's very low in fat (depending on your toppings obviously). Perhaps try things like diced chicken and vegetables.

I'm lucky that I don't really crave sweet things. But if I do, a low cal hot chocolate drink normally does the trick. I used to eat a lot of sweets, but haven't for years now. I think it really does help if you can stay off them. But the other thing I have from time to time if I want something sweet is pop corn.

it's true. i've been bingeing non-stop for the last couple of months. 2 weeks ago i managed to stop. no more chocolate etc. for me. the first couple of days were really really hard. but after 10 days or so the cravings stopped. now i don't feel the need to binge anymore. at all.
you can do it, too. the beginning is hard, but it does get a lot easier. good luck.
