Yeah...usually when I say "I'm good"...I mean "It's complicated to describe in words and I don't want to burden you with my issues...id rather know how your day was".

OP, you are fab.
As a rule, the first time someone asks me how I am, I'll say "fine thanks, you?" or something along those lines - it feels like an extension of "hello", not really a question at all! If the person asks again or circles back round to it, I know they're interested in how I actually am.
