I can't help myself when it comes to cereal. I keep telling my Mom to stop buying it.. but she won't listen to me. I don't mind cereal like Porridge or Weetabix. I hate any cereal that you keep pouring.
I have tried to walk away from the kitchen and stop thinking about it.. but I end up eating it anyways. Cereal is ruining my life. I'm not kiddingwhy is it so addicting?
I ate 4 bowls already. How do I stop? I need some reassurance I'm not gonna get fat![]()

Why do I keep binging on cereal?

What kind of cereal is it exactly? If it's high in fibre, it won't make you fat
Why you binge on it: your body needs to repair itself and therefore needs special nutrients. That's why we (often bulimics) binge on things like bread, milk, eggs and cheese.

I have the same exact problem- I cannot buy cereal anymore because of it. If I do, it's gone within a few hours of me bringing it home.
From what I know, sugar (like the HUGE amounts in almost all kinds of cereal) has been found to have an opiate effect on the body. This causes a chemical reaction that makes your body want more, even if you don't want to keep eating it.
I've found though that if I eat something else containing protein of fat along with it, it lessens the reaction and cravings, and makes me feel full so I have a bit more control some of the time (unless I'm already on binge mode- then fuck that shit, I'm eating the whole box haha)
So maybe try to eat something with protein either before or while you're eating cereal?
Maybe pre measuring a serving into bags so you can just grab one, and it gives you another obstacle that would give you more time to make you stop and think before continuing to eat it?

Maybe because it's crunchy and sweet.
Maybe because it's enriched with B vitamins
Maybe because it's high in carbohydrates which you starve yourself from
Maybe because it's easy to make
4 bowls of cereal is not going to make you fat. I reassure you. No worries. <3

It's sweet, carby, and a comfort food that maybe reminds you of childhood. If it's a fear food of yours that you only eat during binging, you could try adding it to your "allowed foods". That way you have a compromise between eating all of the cereal and none at all.

You tend to see a lot of people struggle with cereal, it's either a very safe food, or very unsafe. I think its because it is so hard to measure and doesn't come packaged according to size, to there is anxiety between having a portion which is safe, and becoming instantly unsafe if it is more or less.
Also you tend to want to binge on what you want biologically, probably your body wants lots of calories in one sitting and energy from the carbs and from the sugar and cereal can offer that.

The cereal was Cornflakes. Regardless of what kind it is, I'd binge on any cereal. I have restricted it for so long I just crave it. I would eat an entire box (and did a few months ago).
It is unsafe for me cause I never know the calorie amount, it's not just the cereal..it's the milk you add that makes it higher. It's 'unsafe' for me cause it's just too calorie dense (sadly..) Anytime I see cereal I just need to have it. Those thoughts make me anxious cause I don't wanna lose control or develop binge eating disorder.
I sound like a mad woman in love with cereal lmaoo
