    Cool Classic Rock<33

As an eighteen year old girl it is really hard to express my feelings on "good" music. When I tell people I am 18, people usually get the idea that I am a typical teenage girl who loves rap and that bullshit like the Jonas Brothers. Well, they usually think wrong! Many older people think it is awesome that I like classic rock and oldies and stuff like that, but girls my age act like I am committing a sin or something every time I listen to Stevie Nicks or the Eagles. I myself think my taste in music is awesome. . . but trying to tell my other friends. . well, it can get a little embarrassing.

I was always different from the other people my age. I always stood out in the crowd. Now that I am older I am glad that I did that because I didn't end up drinking and acting "cool". When I was younger it was extremely hard because I had no one to relate to me. I was in a constant struggle to find people who relate to me. I even found myself listening to music that I find repulsive. The only reason I listened to this teeny bopper pop music, or rap music was because I thought that would get me "accepted". (as if that REALLY mattered in life. . . )

Now that I am older, and believe it or not more mature, I honestly am proud of myself. I finally learned that my music taste is something I should be proud of. The music I listen to really expresses me. Music got mme through a lot of hardships in my life. When people say that I am a "weirdo" for listening to led zepelin or the carpenters, I shouldn't care. I have taste in music, no, it's not exactly YOUR taste, but that's what makes me so unique.

Whether anyone likes it or not, this is what I like. I love classic rock, why should I care what other people think? Just like being pro-ana, this is what I do to stand out from the crowd.

some of the music I like is : Stevie Nicks, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, The Carpenters, Styx, Aerosmith, Billy Joel, Carly Simon, James Taylor, Lynyrd Skynrd, The Doobie Brothers, CCR, Fleetwood Mac, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby, stills and nash, Carol King, Jefferson Airplane. . .and the list goes on and on and on.

Jonas Brothers are SHIT. Not my opinion, that's just a fact. I don't care how good-looking teen girls think they are.

The Carpenters are awesome. All those bands and singers are. I know some people who totally go for the same kind of music-- not modern pop or rap or anything.

You sound like you have better taste in music than me.

But taste in music is totally a personal thing! So... whatever! I'm sorry you ever cared what some other people thought of your preferences. If they can't appreciate Aerosmith, that's their problem.

That was some awesome things you said. I'm not into the music you said you liked, but it definately makes sense to me. I don't really like the most 'popular' music so its hard to find people to empathise with sometimes

Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd go so far back in my brain that there's just nothing else that feels like home. Any idiots listening to whatever the popular stuff in high school is don't get to say "I've loved this since I was five". Your taste in music is definitely safe.

I have to say you do have good taste in music. i grew up listening to lot of classic rock with my dad so i love a lot of classic rock...especially Aerosmith i do listen to all sorts of other stuff like some blues, lot of rock, country, and on occasion a bit of classical or jazz. who cares what others think about our tastes in music right? so long as what wee all individually like has personal meaning to each one of us on this post hope i made sense...i am sleep deprived heh

I firmly believe that music is a gift from God. The Jonas Brothers are trash. (I apologize to anyone on here who's a fan. Seriously, I'm not usually a snob about music but there's a limit to my tolerance. :P) Classic rock is a solid choice though. And, I mean, what about The Beatles? Hellooooo??? Amazing band/phenomenon/religion. 'Nuff said.

u have a great taste in music! i LOVE the carpenters, and people i tell that to are shocked that i do. but i don't care. i learned not to care what people think of the music i listen to. all the frienemies i hung out listened to hiphop shit when i was listening to country music. now the new girls i kinda hang with like hiphop rap stuff too. i like some lady gaga & katy perry but i'd take classic rock over them anytime.
